Welcome!
Most of what I write starts with something small.
A pause at a dinner table.
A glance on a train ride.
The way someone suddenly becomes very invested in their phone when the conversation gets uncomfortable.
Notes from Dinner is a place for observations about relationships and human behavior as they unfold in public spaces: Dinner tables. A stroll in the park. Airports. Riding trains during rush-hour traffic and spending a Saturday morning at Costco — the ordinary places where people forget to perform and tell on themselves just a little.
Here, you’ll find:
Weekly essays rooted in real moments and everyday encounters
Observations shaped by travel, movement, and shared spaces
Occasional fiction inspired by what I notice, overhear, and can’t quite forget
Writing that begins as reflection and sometimes grows into novels
This isn’t an advice column. No one is fixing your life here. I’m simply paying attention and reporting back with affection, curiosity, and the occasional raised eyebrow. There will be insight. There will be humor. There may be a little side-eye, offered lovingly.
If you enjoy writing that feels familiar for a reason, that makes you laugh quietly and think a little longer than expected, you’re in the right place.
Pull up a chair.
You’ll recognize yourself here.
